“At Maggie's you can say what you want without fear of upsetting family or friends”

Thank you for voting for Maggie's in the National Lottery Awards

Maggie’s Lanarkshire received an impressive 1,699 votes in the semi-finals of the Best Health Project category of the National Lottery Awards.

The Awards are an annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.  Unfortunately this was not enough to take the project through to the final, with the project finishing in fourth place behind Access to Citizenship, Cruse Bereavement Care Young Cruse project and the Food for Life Partnership.

Maggie’s Lanarkshire, which is on the grounds of Wishaw General Hospital, was one of 70 projects originally shortlisted for the National Lottery Awards from 800 entries. The Centre, which opened in April 2008, provides emotional support and practical advice to people affected by cancer across the region.

Maggie’s Centre Head, Lorrie Forsyth, said:
“We want to thank everyone for the enthusiasm and support shown for us in the National Lottery Awards.  Despite our disappointment on missing out on the Final, participation in the National Lottery Awards has given us a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of the work of the Centre.  We wish the remaining projects the best of luck for the final.”
