SSE putts £25,000 towards Maggie’s Centre in Dundee

The Maggie’s Centre in Dundee was delighted to receive a £25,000 donation raised by SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy) at their autumn charity golf day in the Kingsbarns sunshine.

SSE has supported Maggie’s for some time and this year’s charity golf day at Kingsbarns has built on the success of previous events, as well as offering those talking part the opportunity to play on one of the country’s most challenging courses as it readies itself for this week’s Dunhill Cup.

In stark contrast to the monsoon conditions that were about to strike Wales and force the Ryder Cup into overtime, Kingsbarns was blessed with true shirtsleeves weather, and this seemed to have rubbed off on everyone involved, with a remarkable £8,000 raised on the day alone.

SSE Finance Director Gregor Alexander said: "Everyone at Maggie’s does a remarkable job and their work is very close to the hearts of many SSE staff. I’d like to thank everyone who took part this year in helping raise these much needed funds for the charity, as this will allow Maggie’s to keep on helping those affected by cancer. We all enjoyed the remarkable weather, I only hope the chap who won the day at the Ryder Cup in our raffle remembered to pack his waterproofs!”
